Age appropriate activities are offered in the following areas: MUSIC: Songs, singing, games, creative movements, listening to music, playing instruments. ART: Encourage creativity using a wide variety of material, inviting experimentation and expressing feeling through creations. LANGUAGE ARTS/PHONETICS: Awareness of stories, listening skills, verbal expression, introduction of poetry and language games, penmanship/early writing skills. DRAMATIC PLAY: Role playing, acting out a story, self-expression in participation in school productions and puppets. SCIENCE AND NATURE: Stimulate the child to explore, question and discover - especially during thematic projects and field trips. MOTOR DEVELOPMENT: Helping the child, through activities and play, to develop coordination and strength in their small and large muscles. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT: Providing age-appropriate learning experiences that build foundational skills for math and reading such as visual discriminating, classifying, sorting, comparing, sequencing, measuring, etc. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY: Helping the child care for personal belongings, development of independence and packing and tidying away all material used in the classroom and playground. EMOTIONAL GROWTH: Helping the child express feelings in an acceptable manner, develop and enlarge a circle of trust and develop friendship-building skills. In addition, helping the child appreciate and respect others. |
